A California man was recently detained by the North Carolina State Bureau of investigation on allegations that he was trafficking cocaine. The 38-year-old was stopped at the Raleigh Durham International Airport with reportedly more than 400 grams of cocaine. The warrant for the Anaheim man’s arrest alleged two counts of drug trafficking. One of the counts was for having the cocaine and the other for transporting it.
Because of the amount of cocaine found in the man’s possession, the charges against him fall in the most serious felony category for drug trafficking. The accused is currently being held on $1 million bail for his court appearance. Because he is a native of Brazil, federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement is also involved. The ICE officials asked that he be held in custody because of prior criminal convictions as well.
